Phoenix, AZ — Organizers of the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade are looking for nominations for Veterans Grand Marshals for the parade set for Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The marshals nomination program is sponsored by KTAR radio with support from Sanderson Ford.

Those wishing to honor veterans can submit nominations from now through May 31, 2016 on the website at GrandMarshalAZ.com. There will be a Grand Marshal representing each conflict to include:

  • World War II − 1941 to 1946
  • The Korean War − 1950 to 1953
  • The Vietnam War − 1964 to 1975
  • Cold War − 1945 to 1991
  • Desert Storm − 1990 to 1991
  • Operation Enduring Freedom − 2001 to present
  • Operation Iraqi Freedom − 2003 to 2011

The winners from the nominations will ride in the parade, be featured on KTAR, and attend other parade events. The selections are slated to be completed by early July and notification will follow shortly thereafter.

“The parade honors our veterans and serves as an annual reminder to educate Americans about the service and sacrifices our veterans have made to protect our freedoms,” said Aaron Dudney, President of Honoring America’s Veterans.

Dudney knows what it means to serve. He is a retired US Army Sergeant First Class with 20 years of active duty in the Signal Corps. He served tours in Korea (two), Germany, Somalia Africa, Ft Bragg NC, Ft Ord CA, Ft. Lewis WA and Ft Huachuca AZ. He is an Airborne Ranger, Senior Parachutist, Jumpmaster and Rappel Master. He volunteers his time as President of HAV which is a 501c3. He works full time at Arizona Public Service as an IT Manager for the Integrated Operations Center.

This year’s parade theme is “Welcome Home Vietnam Heroes”. The Phoenix Veterans Day Parade has been billed as one of the largest in spectator attendance across the country and is now celebrating its 20th year. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, heading South on Central Avenue at Montebello, turning East on Camelback Road and then heading South on 7th Street where it de-stages at Indian School Road.
